Who knew hair had so much power
Well I loved this video
It was in an Asian country, most likely centered around a girls school. There’s always one snobby jealous girl who tries to cheat the other girl from her dreams. That has pretty much happened to me before so I know how she felt. It’s all about triumphing through the hard times and not being afraid of greatness. The mean girl sent men to break the girls violin and harass the deaf guy(Climax). How cruel. Then it’s like in your face girl! I just amazed this audience with a battered violin! I win you lose, but thanks for trying
Irony kills me.. Both girls had to learn what competition was supposed to be. The violin girl worked harder and harder after encouragement from her deaf friend who played wonderful music. Of course Pantene had to throw the camera around the girl’s silky smooth hair during her performance, but for the most part I would’ve never known it was a hair product advertisement!
Watch the interview video first then the top scene. This is from the very inspirational story of the Pursuit of Happyness. Enjoy:)
Assignment #7 Amazing Lyre Bird!
Oh my goodness gracious. There is nothing like the mimicking ability of the Lyre Bird. I’m probably not the only one who had there mouth gaping open while the bird cried out sounds exactly like other birds and exactly like human artificial sounds. The other birds must be really confused by all the calls coming from the same bird. I would be ha!
It is sad in a way to realize that these birds are around human sounds so much that they can copy such noises as the camera shutter, chain saw, and car alarm almost exactly. I don’t understand how it’s vocal chords figure that out but they definitely do and it is amazing to hear. Wildlife has definitely had to adjust to human presence. We have many endangered species because of it, but there are also many more restrictions and national parks to preserve wildlife. It’s fascinating how animals just don’t know any better about some things. The Lyre bird doesn’t know the difference between a siren and a bird call. It just recognizes the high pitch sound and the frequency of occurence of the sound. Seeing from both point of views opens your eyes to true wildlife which to me is just survival of the fittest. Most animals only do what is best for their survival. The Lyre Bird doesn’t know that imitating a camera shutter will not do anything for him except attract more humans. He thinks it will help him survive. That’s why I think it’s funny how people think their dogs really have feelings and understand what a person is saying, or one dog is naturally smarter than another. Dogs use natural instincts. Being trained causes intelligence in a dog and all the cute little name calling you can do doesn’t matter except for the pitch of your voice. High pitch=friendly, Low pitch=overpowering and punishing. The bird is the same way. It recognizes different pitches and imitates them looking for a benefit. The bird doesn’t just call out for no reason. Tis quite an amazing bird though. Put that bird in human form and you’d have one heck of a singer.
Self Image
Body- Skinny, tone, perfect complexion, big boobs, small legs and hips, gorgeous face, full lashes, plump lips, small cute nose, no wrinkles.
Spouse- has to be super handsome, nice body, big packages, never ever argue.
House- $300,000 with a pool, nice cars, all kinds of cool gadgets
Job- picture perfect with no “I just want to stay home today”s or any complaints.
This is the self image media is promoting. I see girls younger and younger wearing make up. I started earlier than most because I saw my sister wearing it and how pretty she looked, but nowadays girls are twelve and thirteen! Girls with a little weight or a little largeness are very self-conscious and have serious mental issues because of the barbie doll image media promotes. http://www.media-awareness.ca/english/issues/stereotyping/women_and_girls/women_beauty.cfm plainly expresses how this and many other cases occur because of all the cosmetics, plastic surgery, sex, hair, clothes, and boobs that have now completely enveloped our internet, magazines, and tv screens. Girls and guys should be confident with what they were given and not have to spend money to get to that perfect image. Society today centers everything around sex and women’s appeal. It’s ridiculous! Kids in elementary school already “know everything” no doubt because of tv and anywhere else media is seen. Personally, I don’t think anorexia looks cute or sexy. I think it looks disgusting and as long as you’re happy with your body then you are beautiful. Personality can not be seen and therefore cannot make money very easily. More emphasis needs to be put on natural beauty and Dove is headed in the right direction with their self-esteem fund. I’m doing my own part at the high school to make people feel better about themselves if I hear someone say I’m so fat and ugly. Most of the time they’re not. The media is behind their eyes.
Pencil Face
The mood of “Pencil Face” was set first by the music and scenery. She was a girl alone in some kind of dry barren environment with strange, full of wonder, music. Her facial expression showed her curiosity when she found the pencil. The pencil’s facial expression was hilarious and lightened the mood a little. How she knew to draw in the air I don’t know but it gave the video a sci-fi feel. The girl was obviously happy when the birthday cake and kite came to life by her expression and actions. The pencil made happy faces as well. When the black hole came to life she was a little afraid and very curious once again by her facial expression and a change of music to a more creepy nature. The pencil had the same stupid smirk on its face when she was sucked in. It’s almost like he knew it was going to happen and made it that way on purpose instead of a lollipop.
The theme could be that you can’t always get what you want or what you wish for. It could also be curiosity kills the cat or something of that nature. It could even be that sometimes what you want turns out to be something that’s not best. There are many different ways to interpret the wacky story.
If I had a pencil like that, I’m not quite sure what I would draw. Food would probably be top on the list though ha. If you could just draw money that’d be easy. Just pay off the house/car/whatever else debt. Give some to charity. Solve the world’s problems. Who knows? I definitely wouldn’t draw anything close in resemblance to a black hole though and if something like that did come to life I’d draw something else to get rid of it quick! There are endless possibilities.
Racial Categories
The entire class was surprised at what their results showed. People who looked plainly white were actually black and vise versa. All of my previous ideas of race were proved wrong except for four. These people are commonly mistaken and may be treated differently because of their appearance. The white guy who looked like an arabian would by some people be looked at with scorn caused by the present war. Personally, I never judge people based on what appears to be their race. Where we live is not a very diverse area, but I have been around and seen a great variety of people. I know a peruvian who gets offended when others say he looks mexican. When people just don’t know any better or haven’t seen multiple ethnicities, it’s just hard to tell. I judged the Sorting People by facial features mainly. Asians are categorized by their squinted eyes, blacks by their noses and lips, Indian Americans by their broad jaws and dark hair. As I just saw, these characteristics are not always true. To truly know a person’s racial background, one has to either meet them and ask or study even the slightest differences between races. The saying, “Can’t judge a book by its cover,” proves true once again.
New Blogger!
Well, this is definitely new to me. Last year our English class made a blog but I never got on it. The closest thing I’ve ever done is facebook and myspace. I think a blog is a good way to write to the world and express your opinions, but you have to be careful what you write because just about anyone can read it. I’m sure the point of this is to make our class have more writiing experience and thus, learn how to write better and extend our vocabulary. Most likely it will work. I don’t usually have a lot of time for this kind of thing, but I guess I’ll have to make time now! It’s all good.I don’t dread making a blog , but i don’t exactly look forward to it either. I’m not the type of person that likes to write all the time, but of course I will if it is my assignment. Maybe by the end of the year I will enjoy it more…
